The English & Foreign Languages Department is one of three Departments in the Faculty of Arts, having been established in 1984 when the National University of Samoa was set up by Act of Parliament
The English Department is able to provide 3 Majors and 3 Minors which are Literature, Linguistics and a Combination of Literature and Linguistics.
There are 3 English Bridging courses for students whose English is not up to standard, and 2 courses for the Foundation Certificate of Arts . Degree courses are as follows: 7 x 100 courses, 7 x 200 courses and 7 x 300 courses and One Post Graduate course for the Masters of Arts.
Admission for the Foundation Certificate courses is English grade 1-4 in the Samoa Secondary Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and 4-15 Aggregate, or equivalent, or mature entry.
Foundation English is the compulsory core course for all Faculties which all students must pass in order to progress to higher level courses.
