The National University of Samoa is currently in transition. We are awaiting the start of our newly appointed Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Alec Ekeroma who will officially begin his three-year term with us on 2 February 2020.
At the 62nd Meeting of the NUS Council held on the 3rd and 4th October 2019, Council endorsed the selection of Professor Alec Ekeroma as the new Vice Chancellor and President of the National University of Samoa. The recommendation was then submitted to Cabinet for their approval as is the practice for all Chief Executive Officer positions of Government Ministries and State Owned Entities. Cabinet at its meeting on 9 October 2019 issued its Directive FK (19)36 the selection of Professor Alec Ekeroma to the position of Vice Chancellor and President of the National University of Samoa.
Professor Alec Ekeroma attained his PhD from Auckland University (NZ), MBA from the University of Keele (U.K.), MBBS from the University of PNG, FRCOG (Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology United Kingdom), RANZCOG (Royal Australian and New Zealand College Of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists), and DipObs from University of Auckland.
He has proven himself in Business entrepreneurship, an asset that the Council looked favorably upon in his ability to market NUS beyond Samoa. His commitment and passion in education is to be admired and we look forward to his leadership of the NUS in the next three years.
NUS once again Congratulates Professor Alec Ekeroma on his appointment and look forward to working with him.
